RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police are investigating the death of an inmate housed at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility in Rutland.
Jack Martin, 49, of Rutland, died Sunday at the Rutland Regional Medical Center, police said. He was taken to the hospital after he told Corrections Department staff on Friday morning that he was having difficulty breathing, police said.
An autopsy will be performed. Preliminary investigation does not indicate that his death was suspicious, police said.
Martin had been in custody since Oct. 11 after being arrested on charges of assault and robbery and possession of heroin, police said.
